Featured Artist Pam of A Bead Thing

There are some people who always let life get the best of them while others go through trials with grace and style.  Such is the case of Pam; owner, designer, and woman extraordinaire of A Bead Thing!  Pam is a soon to be retired real estate agent as well as a mother of two grown children as well as a grandmother.  She is a huge part of her grandchild’s life and works tirelessly to learn ways to cope with his ADHD while running her business.

Pam has always been a creative soul, beginning with watching her grandmother tatting.  She quickly realized that tatting was not for her and her ever wise grandmother put a crochet hook in her hands instead.  Over the years, Pam and her daughter collected beads and findings because they were pretty….after a while they were swimming in beads!  Never one to shy away from a challenge, she set out to teach herself everything she could learn about the art of jewelry making and her life has never been the same.

Pam’s work is as varied as her life story and ranges from simple elegance to downright extravagant, but each piece is made with care and love as well as an eye for detail and color.  She is constantly willing to learn new techniques to improve her skills and incorporates them into her designs.  She has ventured into the world of teaching at a local craft store as she believes that if you want to create you should jump in and try it!  She is also a valued member of the HandmadeArtistsForum where she is always ready with advice and a smile.

While some chose to sit and wallow, Pam always has a ready word of encouragement for her fellow artists.  She is a friend and a true talent who’s love of creativity shines through in each piece she makes.
